.:Tarin and Jolene:.

Description

SO.....
We finally have both of TP Link's parents in here |F
The lovable Tarin and the frisky Jolene :3
Now... Jolene is a character in Phantom Hourglass that looks NOTHING like the one I have here as TP Link's mother...
Albeit, she has features that are similar via pony tail, but that was on accident lol
Jolene has that hidden hot-blooded ferocity and fearlessness about her that makes her violent, but calm in the face of danger...
Tarin is the laid back and mature one of the two, but is somewhat of a scardey-cat and a huge worrywort, letting his kindness
guide his judgement towards others and predict the outcome of his future actions.
Their personalities clash within Link as he has both of their attributes in one way or another in Twilight Princess...
I didn't really do too much with Jolene's clothing, but she's supposed to be kind of a wild child kind of character...
Her backstory is... pretty much a coincidential thing, but it isn't too bad I suppose ^^;
For whatever reason, I thought this song fit Jolene, when it only has little similarities to her backstory...
when it's actually something else entirely... But I can't help but love the music itself, it just fits wonderfully lol

Little May: Hide

So yeah, I actually do have a story for these two meeting each other...
It's... interesting how all these events come together in the end, no? ;3
The story was actually called, "The Adventure of Tarin", but it became a little less restricted for it to be called an "Adventure"
So I changed it into, "The Faron Woods Foreigner"

(Update: 02/07/2016): The story is unfortunately a slight retcon of Tarin's backstory...
I didn't realize this until I read the original one on the reference sheet for Tarin :'D
I apologize in advance -w-"

Jolene is a teenage girl who lives deep in the newly created Faron Woods...
This is during the time when the unification of Humans and Hylians became apparent
so Hyrule was even larger than before, which made the Lon Lon business even more
widespread instead of being just at Hyrule Castle and Castle Town...
With more workers working at Lon Lon Ranch, things became a lot easier...
Tarin at the time was in his twenties and was instructed to enter Faron Woods and into the newly founded
Ordonian Province, which at this time wasn't run by the people we know in Twilight Princess...
These people were the early settlers / parents of the residents of the current Ordon Province....

Although he was given this task, he wasn't really prepared for the person lurking deep in the woods...
Jolene spooks Tarin and tries to play games with him, but he refused to let her manipulate and distract him
despite being scared out of his wits...
After he was done with his duties, Jolene appeared again as he was leaving, spooking him once more
Intrigued with Tarin's personality, she would flirt with him occasionally whenever he passes on by the trail
to Faron Woods....Realizing this, Tarin always felt uncomfortable knowing that Jolene could be anywhere
at any moment whenever he entered the forest on milk delivery...
....
Though after a few more trips there, he started realizing that she wasn't around much anymore... if at all...
This for whatever reason made him feel worried for her...

"Why should I be worried for someone who's been stalkin me these past few months?", He thought.
He tried to abide to his better judgement and thought not of the strange occurance that spanned out for days and weeks...
Tarin couldn't sleep well when he went home, making his mother, Malon, worry about him as she noticed
his performance getting weaker due to being distracted by worring thoughts.

When she asked what was wrong, Tarin simply told her that he didn't want to talk about it or that his recent trip
wasn't as smooth sailing as he wanted it to be...
Malon knew better, because Link was a terrible liar and would come up with the same kind of answer...
When Tarin was off duty, Malon spoke with him once more and with more sincerity in her voice.
Tarin had no choice but to tell his mother about what has been happening to him for the past few months.
Unnerved, Malon didn't know what to think of this and wanted someone else to take his place with Faron Woods instead..
Not thinking, Tarin pleaded against it, making Malon realize that Tarin actually had feelings for this girl that has been stalking
him.
Embarrassed, Tarin remained silent as Malon explained to him about his father...
Link was a forest boy all his life and Malon was a simple horse rancher all her life...
It was probably a silly chance for them to be together, but it happened...
Ingo intervened and mentioned that it was Link and not every person from the forest is like him...
The revelation got to Tarin and he felt unsure as to what Jolene was doing when she was stalking him the way she did...
Despite the harrassment, he started to feel at least safe, knowing that it was just her and nobody else...
Tarin wanted to keep his job and continue going to Faron Woods...
Malon wanted to decide against it, but was defeated with how stubborn her son was with his decisions.... just like his father.

Tarin was tasked to go to Faron Woods again, but this day was different...
Something was off about the atmosphere. Faron Woods was kind of creepy, but it was mostly tranquil, despite Jolene's
presence making it less tranquil back then...
He didn't like the fact that he was alone again after that...
'That girl...' Tarin thought.

As soon as Tarin stepped into the Ordonian Province, he saw a rather startling sight.
There was a man, a large hylian man, aggresively shouting for someone named Jolene, demanding to know where she
was..
The residents didn't know who they meant, but the man thought otherwise and threatened to harm them
assuming that they were hiding her from him. Tarin was unnerved by this sight, but his nature made him intervene
in the mess since the man was very tempted to attack one resident out of blind rage and desperation...
This didn't end well due to the man being much stronger than Tarin, but he kept his footing and defended the villagers from the
man's rage.
The villagers escaped the battle, but were concerned for the brave boy...
Until someone appeared out of nowhere and aided him... The girl from before!
The man growled her name and spoke. "Jolene, how dare you harm your own father!"
"What kind of father would use her own daughter for something so shallow?! If anything, you deserve everything what's
coming to you!"
She exclaimed.

As Jolene's father was about to get close to her, Tarin intervened and protected Jolene without thinking it through.
This caused a heated battle to occur, one that ended with an injured, yet victorious Tarin.
Jolene's father was then taken away to be arrested...
Impressed by Tarin's actions, Jolene lead him to her secret grove to heal his injuries.
By then, they began telling each other about themselves.

Jolene revealed that when she was 13 years old, she ran away from her "family", who had used her for a terrible circus act
that didn't get them far due to a fallout in Hyrule Castle Town. The Queen, Zelda, took notice of it, and demanded that the act
was to be discontinued, in which it did. At the end of each act, Jolene would always end up being burned or injured due to
poor performance. Instead of encouraging her to train harder, her father would be harsh on her, but she didn't lose her self-
esteem and would always snap back at her father for his flawed logic.
Her mother had died a little while ago due to an unknown illness a few years after Jolene was born.
It's possible because of that fact, made her father hate her.
She ran away from home after it was thrown into chaos with rage and hatred for one another after the circus act was
discontinued.
Jolene had travelled far and wide, but was lost and injured on her journey. By this time, she stowed away in Lon Lon Ranch
and stayed out of sight for two days until she was well enough to explore on her own again. Though, while she was out of
sight from the Lons, she was spotted by Tarin's father, Link.
She was terrified at first due to his rugged look, but realized that he wasn't going to hurt her and instead took care of her
injuries and fed her during this time... all the while keeping the young Jolene out of sight and out of mind from the other Lons.
When she was well enough, she hugged him without thinking, thanking him for helping someone like her...
Because of his kindness, she was able to survive and eventually travel farther out...
Ever since then, she's been in Faron Woods, living by herself.
Only recently she was caught off guard and was taken back to her prison of a home, surprised they managed to find her after
all this time...

Tarin felt guilty due to probably being the reason she was caught in the first place...
Jolene didn't want Tarin to blame himself because she was the one harassing him all this entire time
and didn't put it past him if he wanted to tell her that he felt annoyed by all of that... but he didn't...
He actually admitted instead that he actually liked her and thanked her for helping him out with her father...
This made her completely flabbergasted and blushed somewhat.

"You're welcome... I never caught your name..."

"It's Tarin...", he said coyly. "Would you.. like to live with us, Jolene?"

"Really?... But.. what if they don't-"

"My family is open to anyone with a kind heart! I'm sure they wouldn't mind another member of the family!"

Jolene closed her eyes and smiled.

"Alright. I'll be a part of your family, Tarin. Thank you so much for what you've done for me."

"No problem!

At this point, Tarin and Jolene became best friends and partners working on the ranch until Tarin moved on to become like his
father, as one of the knights of Hyrule. Around this time, they became married and had a single child... this child being the soon
to be "Hero Chosen by the Goddesses".
At the age of 45, Tarin had became a full blown knight with Jolene as a mistress at 47.
Around this time, tradegy struck. King Bulbin and his band of monsters began terrorizing a proportion of Hyrule Castle Town
in search of the child of destiny. Tarin instructed Jolene to flee to the Ordon Province where their child would be safe. She
does, but the beasts caught wind of this and caught up with her too soon in the Faron Woods. Fearing that their plan was
going to fail, Tarin speeds towards the forest after ridding of the monsters still in Hyrule Castle Town.
Jolene manages to avoid the monsters and flees deeper into Faron Woods,
eventually nearing the spring where the spirit resides... However this didn't last...
Jolene was then strucked by an arrow to the back and collapsed to the ground, falling to her side to avoid harming her son
from the fall.

King Bulblin and his goons had thoughts on kidnapping the infant, but are startled
and attacked by Tarin, who fought the beast with his fiber of his being, but was more significantly wounded than King Bulblin
was by the end of it.
Before the battle claimed a life right away, Rusl and his friends appear and managed to chase off King Bulbin and his goons
successfully. Tarin collapsed, succumbing to his wounds. But before he passed away, he muttered to Rusl to take care of his
son, acknowledging that his wife had already passed away. Both him and Rusl look over at the woman that laid near the spring,
eerilly motionless. Jolene had died from blood loss before anyone could do anything about it. Rusl went over to her and
noticed the baby boy in her arms and picked it up gently. It was crying in distress from the chaos that unfolded. Rusl felt bad for
the child and went back to Tarin, saying that he promises to raise him well.
Tarin smiles weakly as thanks the young man and willingly gave up what little bit of life he had left, joining his wife.

Rain began to fall as it seemingly moarned the loss of the knight and the mistress who gave up their lives to protect their son.
Determined to keep his promise, Rusl adopted the child as his own, leading to the events that played in Twilight Princess.
